Q: Why does Ranger build so many models?
A: Our extensive lineup of models is a direct result of our
longstanding commitment to listen closely to our family of
owners and dealers. As part of the Ranger family, your
comments and suggestions are very important to us. Your
input helps us to continually achieve a significant part of
our mission, which is to build legendary fishing boats of
Signature Quality.
Q: What kind of prop do you recommend for a particular
boat?
A: Our engineering staff runs a lot of boats in order to
know which props work best with each boat and motor. When we
rig a boat, we match it with the best all-around prop for
that motor and boat. If you modify a boat with a jackplate
or other aftermarket equipment, you need to consider how
that will affect the performance of the prop. Weight loads
and saltwater use are other considerations that affect the
performance of a prop.
Q: Why does Ranger use the Teleflex Sea Star Pro®
hydraulic steering as a standard feature on many of its
boats? Doesn't it just drive the price up higher?
A: Ranger uses Sea Star Pro® as a standard feature on most
models that rate for 150 horsepower or higher. Sea Star Pro®
is a proven steering system. It simply eliminates torque on
the steering wheel, making it much easier to drive and
control the boat. It adds a little to the overall price, but
factor that and all the other features when comparing boats
and we're sure you'll see that Ranger is a value. Most
important, our customers have requested Sea Star Pro® as a
standard feature.
Q: How well do Ranger Boats perform?
A: Ranger Boats are built to excel. It starts with design,
and then construction--from our laminate schedule to RPM
factory rigging. It translates to total performance--Holeshot,
Mid-range, Top-end, Tight Turns, Dry Rides and Fishability.
The result--you get to your favorite spots Quick, Dry,
Confident and ready to fish from the best platform on the
market.
Q: Which motor brand works best -- Evinrude®/Johnson®,
Yamaha®, or Mercury®?
A: Each of these companies builds a fine motor. At Ranger,
we rig new models with each brand in a variety of
horsepowers. This lets us test each brand and horsepower and
determine the rigging specifications. Those specifications
then become the work instructions for our RPM factory
rigging program. You should choose the motor you like best.
Consider things such as performance, fuel economy and
service availability. Most dealers carry more than one brand
of motor and can help you in determining the motor best
suited for your needs.
Q: Can my boat be rigged with a higher horsepower motor
than the maximum rating?
A: No. Ranger adheres to United States Coast Guard
regulations. Ranger does not recommend or endorse rigging a
boat with a horsepower that exceeds the maximum
recommendation. Rigging a boat with a motor in excess of the
horsepower rating creates liability and insurance issues for
the owner. Be safe--stay within the recommended horsepower
range.
